Healthy Eating (Essay Sample) Content: Students name:Affiliation:Instructor:Course:Date:Statement of the problemChild obesity has been the talk of the day due the increased number of health issues and deaths from diseases related to obesity. 10 percent of worlds school aged children are reported to be overweight with half the population being obese and the main cause is unhealthy eating. Health problems like heart disease and diabetes among children have been rising over the last few years and they are related to unhealthy eating/poor nutrition.Discussion of the problemUnhealthy eating/Poor nutrition is a major issue among children in the modern world. Modernization has affected every aspect of life and food production for instance has changed for the worst as the foods are being processed by use of preservatives as a way of prolonging the life of the products. Processed food or products with preservatives has been termed to be high in sugar, salt and fat. Unhealthy eating is regarded a major cause of obes ity and associated diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and liver disease.Teaching healthy eating habits is, therefore, an important part of bringing up children with regards to the rate of obesity among children today (Buenavista, 2011). Kids are mostly left alone in the houses and they tend to eat while watching television (mindless eating) or playing games on the computer. Parents should discourage such lifestyle as mindless eating leads to overeating and eventually weight gain. Another issue is families that do not take dinner or their meals as a family offering the parents no chance to observe clean diets for every member of the family. Parents allow children to make choices on foods to take while in malls or allow them to go on their own a major cause of unhealthy eating as children always go for the unhealthy foods (Hart et al. (2014).What is the current state of the situation?The issue of unhealthy eating among children has become severe as obesity-related diseases have shifted from adults to children. Children with parents who have gone to the extent of limiting Television time and denying their children access to TV in their rooms has played a role in reducing cases of obesity caused by poor dietary (Cheng, 2015). A report states that 10 percent of world's school aged children have excess body weight and a quarter of this group are obese which makes obesity the 21st century biggest medical problem (Kuzbicka Rachori, 2013).What is the desired state of the situation?The government and health organizations are dedicated to improving the situation and control health problems related to unhealthy eating. The American Medical Association has been said to have set up a panel with health experts to deal with the health issue. The expert committee will be addressing overweight issues their treatment and prevention every year (Rao, 2008). The desired outcome or state is a nation of healthy children free from diseases.How are these two states different?T he current situation is a nation with more than 10 percent school-aged children suffering from health problems related to unhealthy eating (Kuzbicka Rachori, 2013). The children receive less or no advice on healthy eating. This situation differs from a desired one where parents and the government want to be responsible for ensuring children live a healthy life free from health problems related to unhealthy eating. Action has not been taken despite the seriousness of the matter especially the parents seems to be intimidated by their children as the cases of obesity rise.What criteria should the solution meet?The solution on prevention of unhealthy eating should start from within the family and children in their early stages should be well informed on which foods are health...
